Apple, Bacon, and Caramelized Onion Pizza
Serves 6
Ingredients:
1 lb premade pizza dough
Flour, for dusting
1 yellow onion, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 tablespoon butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
1/2 cup shredded fontina cheese
1 red apple, thinly sliced
4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/4 cup gorgonzola cheese
Directions:
Sprinkle flour over a work surface. Stretch the dough.
Preheat oven to 450°F.
Combine the canola oil and butter in a medium pan. Bring to medium-low heat. Add the onion. Cook and stir until golden brown. Then sprinkle with salt.
Sprinkle half of the white cheddar and fontina over the pizza dough.
Arrange the apple slices on the cheese. Then spread on the caramelized onions and bacon.
Sprinkle with the remaining white cheddar and fontina over everything. Then sprinkle with gorgonzola cheese.
Lay the pizza on a tray or pizza stone. Place in the oven to bake 15-18 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Remove from the oven. Cut into slices and enjoy!
