In a saucepan, combine corn syrup, water and sugar. Bring pan to boil on medium-high heat. Stir ingredients together until sugar dissolves.
After sugar is dissolved, begin to swirl pan for 8-10 minutes, until mixture is amber in color.
Remove pan from heat. Whisk in heavy cream, salt, vanilla extract and butter.
Return pan to stovetop and reduce heat to low. Continue to whisk ingredients until a smooth texture.
Remove pan from heat and let cool.
Insert skewers into tops of apples. Dip and roll apples in caramel sauce. Coat evenly. Allow excess to drip off back into pan. Coat in candies, if desired.

The Perfect Caramel Apple
Serves 6
Ingredients:
6 apples, your preference
1/4 cup light corn syrup
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup water
6 wooden skewers
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Candies, optional
