Mix together flour, baking powder and baking soda in a small bowl; set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Add egg and vanilla to butter mixture; beat to combine. Slowly blend in dry ingredients.
Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake, until golden, about 8 to 10 minutes. Remove cookies from oven and let stand on cookie sheet for about two minutes before removing and transferring to wire racks to cool.

2 3/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
